Loch Lomond Bike and Hike Challenge

Saturday 26th May 2018

Loch Lomond

On Saturday 26 May, St. Vincent’s Hospice are inviting people to take part in their brand new Loch Lomond Hike and Bike Challenge.

The event includes a 7.5 mile run (or walk) along the West Highland Way followed by a 34-mile cycle back from Inversnaid to Rowardennan, which can either be tackled as an individual or a team of two in a relay.

Senior Fundraiser for St. Vincent’s Hospice, Carol-Anne Lamont, commented on the Challenge, saying: “This is a brand new event and one which gives people the chance to not only make a real difference to their local community, but to push yourself, improve your fitness and take on a new challenge.

“The route will run from the picturesque shores of Loch Lomond, along the West Highland Way to Inversnaid before jumping on your bike and coming back along Rowardennan via Aberfoyle and Drymen, taking in some of the spectacular scenery along the way.”

For 30 years St. Vincent’s Hospice has provided specialist palliative and end of life care for individuals and families affected by life limiting conditions. They do this in their In-patient Unit, Day Hospice and throughout the community in people’s own homes. They are also one of the few organisations to offer a bereavement support service for children and young people following the loss of a significant person in their life.

Carol-Anne added: “This is the perfect opportunity for anyone who is already a keen fitness enthusiast to come along and test themselves, or for anyone who has decided that 2018 is going to be the year that you try something new.”
