The Big Conversation
Wednesday 16th October 2019
As part of their community outreach service, St. Vincent’s Hospice invite members of the public to join them at the Big Conversation on Wednesday 16 October 2019 in the Barn Tearoom at 7.30pm. This is an informal meeting, encouraging open, supportive discussion on issues related to death, dying and bereavement.
Open to any adult in Renfrewshire, including health and social care professionals, the event aims to raise awareness and overcome fear about discussing these sensitive topics. The Big Conversation will also provide access to information and professional advice to help with practical planning for the future.
Kate Lennon, Chief Executive of St. Vincent’s Hospice, said: “Providing a safe place to allow people to talk freely and share together can be a beneficial and therapeutic experience. We will encourage everyone who attends to make the most of their lives.”
Feedback from people who have attended previous Big Conversation events has been extremely positive. They said: “I was surprised - I really enjoyed it!”; “An excellent event – highly recommended”; “Some good laughs and moving insights”; “I liked the relaxed atmosphere. Everyone was encouraged to take part.”
While hospice staff will be present, the event is not intended to provide grief support or counselling. Therefore, it may not be appropriate for someone who has recently been bereaved.
The meeting will be held on Wednesday 16 October 2019 from 7.30pm to 9.30pm in The Barn Tearoom at St. Vincent’s Hospice, Midton Road, Howwood PA9 1AF. Refreshments will be provided. Entry is free. Booking required.
