Specialist Palliative Care Practitioner

A unique opportunity has arisen for a registered nurse with experience of/a special interest in palliative care to join the evolving team in our In Patient Unit at St Vincent’s Hospice.

We are looking for an individual with strong leadership qualities, a true person-centred approach and sound team working ability to become part of our multi professional team.  The successful candidate should possess excellent communication skills, a proven track record in professional development and the ability to practice at an advanced level.

Registered Nurse

Join our team of Registered Nurses

St. Vincent’s Hospice has been supporting people and their families, living in Renfrewshire and North Ayrshire, who are affected by life limiting illness, for the last 34 years. We are a small hospice, but with big ambitions.

The Hospice is looking to recruit a permanent In-Patient Unit Registered Nurse, working 34.5 hours per week rotationally.

As one of our In Patient Unit team you’ll ensure the implementation of a high standard of care within the service. With a strong commitment to providing and ensuring excellent person-centred, safe and effective care, you will be an RN preferably with previous experience in a palliative or cancer care setting. An excellent communicator, you will be able to work well on your own initiative and as part of a team. Although this post is based within the In-Patient Unit, opportunities may arise to work alongside other teams in the hospice, e.g. our Community Team.

St Vincent’s Hospice is “The small hospice with the very big heart”. We have been serving the people of Renfrewshire and adjacent areas of North Ayrshire since 1988, delivering a range of community and in-patient specialist palliative care services. The hospice is situated in a rural location just outside the village of Howwood, a few miles from Glasgow Airport. The location of our hospice means that our team members can commute from the many beautiful country and seaside villages and towns within less than an hour’s drive, therefore offering a brilliant lifestyle choice for the successful candidate. Following a period of uncertainty and change in 2020, the hospice is under new leadership with a new Chief Executive and a new Director of Care and Quality and we have a new Director of Fundraising and Supporter Relations due to join us in August 2022.

Income generation is an absolutely key priority for the hospice and we are currently restructuring our fundraising team and supporting fundraising with both a brand refresh and a new website.

The role of Trusts & Foundation Manager is a key appointment for us as we look to make a step-change in our performance in this area. St Vincent’s Hospice is looking for a new HR Administrator working 16 hours per week. We are happy to discuss a flexible working pattern to suit candidate needs. 

The appointee will provide a wide-ranging and confidential administration support to the organisation. A high level of proficiency in MS Office is required as well as good numeracy and people skills.

Salary £19,945 pro rata
